Dear Heloise: My hint is not one of gigantic proportions, but it has been of great benefit to me, so I am sharing it with you.

When you buy a pound of bacon, fry all the pieces, drain them and place them in an airtight bag in your freezer.

That way you will have the bacon ready for BLT sandwiches or for children or grandchildren on a rushed morning. Also, the messy job of cleaning the stove only has to be done once at your convenience. - Jean Pruett, Camden, S.C.
