State School Chief To Talk About Reforms
Terry Bergeson, Washington superintendent of public instruction, will speak Wednesday in Spokane about education reform and new fourth-grade assessment tests.
Bergeson will address Spokane School District 81 administrators and the public at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Student Union Building Auditorium at Spokane Community College.
Bergeson, former president of the Washington Education Association, won election last November on an education reform platform to raise academic standards in public schools.
Last spring, nearly 70,000 fourth-graders statewide took new assessment tests that educators plan to use to help mold reform efforts. Results of the tests are due back Sept. 4.
District 81 officials said the public is welcome to attend the free meeting. For more information, call Laurine Jue at 353-3365.
