Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: When we run out of pancake syrup we microwave jelly or jam. Any flavor, any brand, even the cheapest makes a great-tasting syrup. Strawberry, peach, grape, whatever your favorite flavor! A.R., Graham, Texas

What a great hint. One of my assistants made some grape-jelly syrup and said it was soooo delicious. I tried it and it tastes just like those fruit syrups at popular pancake houses. Thanks for sharing this! Heloise

Dear Heloise: If you are going on a trip for a week or two, take along cookies, breakfast tarts or boxes of food.

Eat them, then use that space in your luggage to bring back souvenirs. - Della Kuhn, Edgeley, N.D.
