Hotlines Are Ready For Field Burning
Grass field burning could begin Monday and a citizen complaint hotline is ready to go.
The hotline number is (800) 421-8475 for people living outside the Coeur d’Alene area. People living in Coeur d’Alene should call 765-7006.
The Idaho Division of Environmental Quality and the Intermountain Grass Growers Association use information gathered through the hotline to evaluate the effectiveness of their smoke management program. Once the growers start their first fire, they can burn 14 days over the course of 45 days.
Burning will be conducted Monday through Thursday. After Labor Day, however, growers will be allowed to reburn fields on Fridays.
Growers also are allowed to conduct test burns of 10 acres per day.
