Spokane’s Own Bob Sherwin Returns For Gig

Don Adair

It is possible to go home again, especially if you’re a jazz musician who left for greener pastures.

Bob Sherwin is a Spokane-bred saxophone player who went East 12 years ago. Since then, he has made a name for himself, playing with such luminaries as Maynard Ferguson and the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

Now, Sherwin returns for just the second time in 12 years to play a Spokane show - two of them, in fact. Tonight at Hobart’s Jazz Lounge, Sherwin will join up with Arnie Carruthers and his group, along with vocalist Sue Etter, for a night of standards and other treats.

On Saturday, Sherwin and Carruthers team up again, sans Etter.

The music starts at 9 p.m., and the cover charge is $4 general admission and $3 for students. I.D. is required.
