Les Schwab To Open Store At U-City Mall

From Staff And Wire Reports

Les Schwab plans to open a 6,700-square-foot tire center in the Spokane Valley’s University City Mall.

The new store will open June 1 in a freestanding mall building formerly occupied by Sherwin Williams. The store will be the chain’s eighth Spokane location and will employ 14 people.

Les Schwab is a family-owned business that has operated stores in Spokane since 1975. The company has 270 dealerships in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho and Montana.

David Peterson, vice president of Goodale and Barbieri Cos., which manages U-City, said the signing of Les Schwab and Rosauer’s - to a 50,000-square-foot spot on the east end of the mall - represents the first phase in redevelopment of the mall.

Future plans include renovations from the Newberry’s building to the J.C. Penney site. The reconstruction project will encompass 500,000 square feet, Peterson said. , DataTimes
