Driver Charged In Crash That Killed Mother, Girl

A Longview man was arrested in a highway accident that killed a woman and her 8-year-old daughter.

Authorities say Brandon J. Casey was driving a pickup truck that struck another car head-on Friday evening on Ocean Beach Highway near Stella.

Kourtney Benson, 8, died shortly after the accident. Her mother, Darlene K. Benson, 33, of Longview, died Saturday afternoon at a Portland, Ore., hospital.

Casey was jailed for investigation of vehicular homicide. His bail was doubled over the weekend to $500,000 after the death of the mother.

Casey was to make his first court appearance Monday afternoon.
