Health Club Being Built In Liberty Lake

A $2.5 million health club is under construction in Liberty Lake.

Greenstone Corporation of Spokane and Ironwood Athletic Club of Coeur d’Alene have formed a partnership to develop the Liberty Lake Athletic Club, a 29,000-square foot facility at Mission and Molter.

Construction by Garco Construction of Spokane is already under way.

“It’s an amenity that was needed and probably was long overdue for Liberty Lake,” said Bob Boyle of Greenstone.

The athletic club at 23410 E. Mission will include an indoor pool and jacuzzi, an aerobics room, a gymnasium, three racquetball and three squash courts, as well as treadmills, nautilus, stairmasters and free weights. Locker rooms will be designed “with a country-club feeling in mind,” said Gary Retter, a partner in the project.

Tanning beds and massage rooms will also be available. Each locker room will have a sauna, steamroom and a lounge with televisions.

In the club’s main area will be a juice bar and pro shop, said Retter. A fully supervised nursery as well as a a physical therapy office will be available to members.

Greenstone Corporation developed MeadowWood at Liberty Lake. Before signing on to the health club project, the company commissioned a survey of area residents to determine if a need for the such a facility existed.

“We got really favorable feedback from residents for a family and single-oriented health club,” said Boyle.

The health club’s opening is scheduled for early fall, Retter said. The facility will initially employ 20 people in full- and part-time positions. Hours will be 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays.
