Rookie Tom Martin walked Fred McGriff on four pitches with the bases loaded in the 12th inning as Atlanta extended its winning streak to six.

Jeff Blauser singled off Jose Lima (0-1) leading off the 12th, Andruw Jones sacrificed and Kenny Lofton was intentionally walked. Chipper Jones walked one out later and Martin came in to face McGriff.

Atlanta, 5-0 at its home park, Turner Field, has put together the winning streak after losing its first two games of the season.

Dodgers 3, Mets 2 (14) Los Angeles

Mike Piazza’s one-out single scored Brett Butler from second base in the 14th inning as Los Angeles outlasted New York.

Monday night’s 15-inning game took five hours, this one lasted 3:35.

Rockies 13, Reds 4 Denver

Ellis Burks homered twice and Andres Galarraga had four hits as Colorado won it sixth straight.

On an afternoon with snow flurries and a wind-chill near 6, Dante Bichette added two hits and three RBIs for the Rockies.

Pirates 4, Padres 2 San Diego

Esteban Loaiza pitched 7-1/3 innings and hit an RBI single as Pittsburgh won its second straight over San Diego.

John Ericks put two runners on in the ninth but struck out pinch-hitter Chris Jones for the save.

Barry Bonds hit his first homer of the season, and Kirk Rueter (1-0) allowed four hits as San Francisco beat Philadelphia.

Clearing the bases

Jeff Blauser had his consecutive hits streak end at eight in his first at-bat against Houston’s Darryl Kile. Blauser, who entered the game batting .542, went 4 for 4 against the Astros on Tuesday night, giving him a hit in eight straight at-bats. The club and N.L. record is 10 consecutive hits.

Outfielder Darrin Jackson signed a one-year, non-roster contract with the San Francisco Giants last September with the understanding he would have a shot to win the starting center field job. Three weeks later, the Giants signed Darryl Hamilton and made him their starter. Jackson immediately asked out, but the Giants waited until the day before the season opener to release him - when every team’s roster was full.
