Primary Election Results

FOR THE RECORD: 9-20-96 Patty St. Clair, a candidate in the Stevens County District Court judicial race, received 2,181 votes, or 29.79 percent of the votes cast in Tuesday’s primary. Election results in Thursday’s Spokesman-Review listed incorrect numbers for St. Clair.

Here are unofficial results from Tuesday’s primary, with some absentee ballots still to be counted. In each race, the top Democrat (D) and Republican (R) advance to the Nov. 5 general election. Candidates of the Reform (REF), Natural Law (NLP), Socialist Workers (SWP) and Libertarian (LBP) parties advance only if they receive at least 1 percent of the vote. In nonpartisan races, the top two votegetters advance, unless one candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote to win outright. Property tax measures require 60 percent approval to pass.
