Giving Alcohol To Teens Results In Ticket For Hosts
A pair of loud, late summer parties in West Central last week left hosts with the painful hangover of a criminal citation.
Fifteen teenagers were cited just past midnight Saturday for underage drinking at a party at 719 W. Shannon.
Police, who were called by neighbors upset about the party’s volume, also gave two 18-year-olds who rent the house, Lacey Renner and Journee Ann Ziegler, tickets for giving booze to minors.
“There wasn’t one kid over 18 there,” said Cottam.
One night later and 15 blocks away, police arrested a 24-year-old couple who became violent after an officer tried to break up their loud, late night party.
Just past midnight, police found about a dozen people outside Robert and Jennifer Leaming’s home at 1824 W. Chelan. Neighbors complained about the noise earlier in the night.
The party-goers were also breaking mirrors and smashing lights on a pick-up truck parked in front of the house.
There are parties there nearly every Friday and Saturday night, neighbors told police.
Police said Robert Leaming fought when officers tried to snap handcuffs on him. His wife joined in, kicking and hitting an officer, according to police reports.
One officer’s glasses were broken. Another officer reported a sprained thumb after the scuffle.
Both Leamings appeared drunk, according to police reports.
Both were arrested for assault and a noise violation. Both have been released from jail. No court date has been set.
