Tyson Goes To Court

Kevin Rooney, Mike Tyson’s former trainer, is suing the heavyweight for $49 million, alleging breach of contract.

The suit was filed in 1988, but jury selection didn’t take place until Tuesday in U.S. District Court. Opening arguments were scheduled for today.

Rooney claims Tyson’s late mentor, Cus D’Amato, promised him 10 percent of the fighter’s winnings for as long as he fought. D’Amato ran the gym in Catskill, N.Y., that is now operated by Rooney.
