Go Ahead, Deepak, And Make Me Dazed

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

In this corner of W magazine, deep thinker Deepak Chopra (described as “a kind of New Spiritualism Martha Stewart”):

“The new intelligence is a female intelligence. It’s non-linear, holistic, intuitive, creative, nourishing and wise. It’s non-predatory … Half the U.S. Congress has prostate cancer because they express their male energy only through predatory intelligence.”

And in this corner, Clint Eastwood: “This New Age stuff, kinda like, ‘The Force Be With You,’ it’s nice in ‘Star Wars.’ I’ve dated girls who are into goddess worship and all this stuff and you start wondering, what are they searching for? … Nowadays people are reaching for so many odds and ends … and there’s always some good b.s. artist.”

Loose talk

Agent Leigh Steinberg, on Olympic gold medalist Kerri Strug’s squeaky “Beverly Hills 90210” guest appearance: “We might have her take some voice lessons. She’s not a threat to Meryl Streep at this point.”

At least, the original version of him does

Michael Keaton turns 45 today.

The hills are alive with the style and substance?

The producers of “Style and Substance,” an in-the-works TV series centered around a Martha Stewart-like “queen of entertaining,” are having trouble finding a lead actress. A pilot with Kathleen Turner bombed, says TV Guide, and Julie Andrews has been “approached.”

Oh, like ‘Dances with Post-Apocalyptic Pit Bulls’

Kevin Costner, whose last directing effort was “Dances with Wolves,” will return behind the camera with “The Postman,” a futuristic thriller unrelated to last year’s “Il Postino.” Costner will also star in the film, as a man who delivers mail to survivors in a post-apocalyptic world.

The last she saw, Dennis Rodman was wearing it

Margot Kidder, discussing her down-and-out days with Barbara Walters on ABC’s “20/20” Friday night, said the homeless people in downtown Los Angeles “absolutely took care of me,” adding: “I did trade clothes. My main sense of tragedy about this last event is that there’s somebody downtown with my best Armani suit. My only Armani suit.”

He’s hoping for 15 girls, 14 boys and Dennis

And in case you were wondering, Dennis Rodman’s father, the appropriately named Philander Rodman Jr., is living happily in the Philippines with his two wives and 15 of his 27 children. “I’m shooting for 30,” he says of his offspring.

Yeah, sounds like they’re having a real blast

Centennial Olympic Park bombing suspect Richard Jewell, whose pickup truck was shown in news photos bearing bumper stickers for Atlanta’s WKLS-FM, has been offered a security guard job at the radio station, assuming he’s cleared. Says the station’s program director: “It’s rock ‘n’ roll. If we can have some fun with it, we will.”
