Kootenai County Kids Learning On The Job

Local businesses will become classrooms Wednesday as 164 Kootenai County students participate in the third annual School-to-Work Job Shadowing program.

The event is sponsored by the Kootenai Business Education Partnership.

Seniors from Post Falls and sophomores from Lake City, Coeur d’Alene and Lakeland high schools will learn about a wide range of jobs, including engineering, psychology and veterinary medicine.

About 130 business sites are serving as hosts. After a day at the workplace, students and employers will return to the schools for a one-hour wrap-up session.

Students had to apply to be considered for the program, which is part of the Idaho School-to-Work Initiative.
