Ewu Stuns UI In Volleyball

Playing what head coach Pamela Parks called a flawless match, Eastern Washington upset Idaho 14-16, 20-18, 15-8, 15-4 in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday night at Reese Court.

Freshman Lacey Coover and junior Lynn Robison combined for 35 kills and 45 digs as the Eagles (11-10) won for the fourth time in their last five matches. The Vandals (19-4) received 14 votes this week in the USA Today/AVCA Top 25 poll, effectively placing them 33rd in the nation.

The win snapped EWU’s 10-match losing streak to the Vandals.

Coover led four Eagles in double figures in kills with 18, followed by Robison with 17 and Kim Exner with 16. Robison added 25 digs and Coover had 20 as the Eagles handily won the last two games.

“Lacey had a career match,” Parks said of the freshman from Kalama, Wash. ” Everybody that came in did a great job, and we got progressively better as the match went on.” , DataTimes
