Hilton Hopes New Rooms Give Guests Better Rest

The Boston Globe

How well do you sleep at night, especially on the road? Hilton Hotels has an idea to help you get all the rest you need and, perhaps, convince you to spend another night with them.

Sleep-Tight Rooms are about to be introduced in selected Hiltons in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Hawaii. Each of these rooms is designed with special features to help get you the sleep you need. Many business travelers told Hilton that their top recommendations to get a better night’s sleep were to reduce noise (42 percent), improve bedding (28 percent), improve temperature controls (18 percent and darken rooms (11 percent).

Among features of the new Sleep-Tight Rooms will be white sound machines that generate a neutral sound to block out unwanted noise; sound-scape machines that emit soothing environmental sounds such as ocean waves; circadian light boxes that help realign the body’s natural circadian sleep rhythm; adjustable mattresses to match individual mattress tastes; a pillow/blanket bank for individual tastes for guests; glow lamps that provide a non-obtrusive alarm to wake the sleeper; relaxation audio tapes; and assorted light-and soundproofing adjustments.
