Men Shoot 2 In Passing Car

From Staff And Wire Reports

(From For the Record, October 23, 1996): Two men wounded by gunfire Sunday were shot in the parking lot of the Rosewood Club Apartments, 401 E. Magnesium. Spokane police provided the wrong address for an article on Page A9 of Monday’s Spokesman-Review.

Two men are recovering from bullet wounds after being shot early Sunday outside a North Side apartment complex.

The victims told police they drove to Cedar Point Apartments in the 8800 block of Hill ‘N Dale about 2 a.m.

They drove past two men standing in the parking lot, then drove past them again, still trying to find a friend’s apartment number, police said.

On the second pass, the men in the parking lot started shooting.

A bullet tore through the car door, wounding a 30-year-old passenger in the left ankle and right calf. The 25-year-old driver was hit in the left arm, police said.

The wounds weren’t life-threatening. Both men underwent surgery Sunday afternoon at an area hospital and were listed in stable condition, police said.

Police recovered a number of spent shell casings in the parking lot. The victims said they did not know the shooters, and no words were exchanged before the shots were fired.

Police withheld the victims’ names. As of late Sunday, no arrests had been made.
