Nau Back Scores Seven Touchdowns

Associated Press

Archie Amerson rushed for 281 yards and a Division I-AA record seven touchdowns Saturday night, lifting Northern Arizona to a 59-45 conference victory over Weber State at Flagstaff, Ariz.

Amerson’s 1-yard dive for his fifth TD got the Big Sky Conference-leading Lumberjacks a 45-45 tie with 12:20 left. Minutes later, Cedric Jones picked off a pass by Weber’s Roger Cook and returned it to the 28-yard line of the Wildcats.

Amerson gained 21 and 3 yards, then scored from 4 yards out on his third carry to send the Lumberjacks to a 52-45 lead.

Amerson, whose earlier TDs were from 1, 35, 4 and 10 yards, got No. 7 on a 78-yard run with 3:41 remaining.
