Let ‘Christmas Pageant’ Brighten The Season

Those rotten Herdman kids are at it again in “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” one of the most popular of modern Christmas tales.

The Spokane Children’s Theatre opens its version of this show this weekend. The show, written by Barbara Robinson and based on her own story, is about a family of hellion kids - the Herdmans - who threaten to disrupt their church’s Christmas pageant. In the end, however, they help to show the real meaning of Christmas.

This version is directed by Kathie Doyle-Lipe.

The show runs Saturday at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; Sunday and Monday at 7 p.m.; Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; Dec. 8-10 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; Dec. 15-16 at 7 p.m.

All shows are at the Spokane Civic Theatre, N. 1020 Howard. Tickets are $3 each and must be reserved by calling 328-4886.

‘A Christmas Carol’

The Performing Arts and Humanities of Sandpoint opens the classic Dickens story “A Christmas Carol” Friday at the Performing Arts Theatre, 506 Oak in Sandpoint.

This production is a new musical version by Mavor Moore. The cast of 42 features Robert Moore as Scrooge. Other cast members include Clem Hackworthy, Nancy Cavasar, Stephanie Fienhold, Diane Pierce and Linda Robey.

The director is Sue Coffey Berg.

The show runs Friday, Saturday, Wednesday, Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 15 at 2 p.m.
