Newman Lake Area Totally Blacked-Out

The Newman Lake area was one of the Valley areas hardest hit by Tuesday’s ice storm.

All 1,000 homes in the area served by Inland Power and Light lost electricity during the storm and have been without power ever since.

Dave Clinton, Inland assistant manager, said Thursday night he had no idea when power would be restored to the blacked-out area. Clinton said crews would be working around the clock to repair wires and poles that were torn down in Tuesday’s storm. The company hired 10 Washington contractors to pitch in with the work at Newman Lake and Houser, he said. “I’ve been told it looks like a war zone,” he said.

He said the work “certainly will take days” to complete.
