Pena Submits Resignation
Transportation Secretary Federico Pena submitted his resignation Tuesday, saying he declined offers to remain in other Cabinet positions in the second Clinton administration.
He will leave office Jan. 20, inauguration day, to help smooth the transition to his successor.
In an afternoon meeting with President Clinton at the White House, Pena told the president he would stick with his gut instinct in 1992, which was to serve one term in the Cabinet and then leave.
