Dollar Loses Some Ground

The dollar ended lower against key currencies Thursday, after an early rally incited by news that a Russian deputy justice minister had been killed.

A key German central bank official’s remarks suggesting that German interest rates might not come down as quickly as the market had hoped also may have contributed to the dollar’s weakness, traders said.

The broadest measure of Germany’s money supply slowed to an 11.2 percent annual rate last month, vs. a 12.3 percent rate in March.
