Binghams’ Son Sues Arrasmith
The teenage son of Ron and Luella Bingham filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the man convicted of gunning down his parents.
Joshua Bingham, 17, wants Ken Arrasmith to pay for the deaths of his parents.
“It is hard to characterize the pain you suffer by being made an orphan,” said Harvey Richman, Joshua Bingham’s attorney. “Here is a child whose parents both were taken away from him under circumstances which were absolute criminal acts.”
Arrasmith, 44, drew national attention after shooting Ron and Luella Bingham in a Lewiston car repair shop last May. Arrasmith gunned down the boy’s parents after he was told the couple had raped and abused his own teenage daughter.
Arrasmith shot Ron Bingham 23 times and Luella Bingham seven times.
Although he drew letters of support from around the country, Arrasmith was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Rilla M. Smith, Luella Bingham’s mother, filed the lawsuit on behalf of her grandson in Coeur d’Alene’s 1st District Court late Friday.
The lawsuit calls for Arrasmith to pay for the funeral expenses for his shooting victims as well as for the support, food, clothing, shelter and love Joshua Bingham would have expected to have gotten from his parents.
Joshua Bingham is the couple’s sole surviving child. He lives with his grandmother, Richman said.
