When you see the new movie “Twister” - and if you love summer action-thrillers, you should see it - you’ll likely be impressed with the film’s special effects.

Facing nosy wind machines, multiple cameras setups and the demands made on them by effects experts, the stars were lucky to survive without permanent damage.
Both actors were temporarily blinded after a day of shooting in intense light. And in one scene, Hunt repeatedly hit her head on a low wooden bridge.
“I love Helen to death, but you know she can also be a little bit clumsy sometimes,” director Jan De Bont said. “Clumsy?” Hunt retorted. “The guy burnt my retinas, but I’m clumsy.”

A “Twister” addendum: A movie audience in Ohio got more than it bargained for when, during the show, part of the theater ceiling fell in. One moviegoer was injured, and the theater was evacuated.

Police have arrested a man accused of robbing Spago, the Beverly Hills restaurant of the stars. Clyde Herman Thomas, 27, was arrested Monday on charges that he and another man, armed and dressed in white chef’s uniforms and hats, invaded Spago’s kitchen, ordered employees to lay down on the floor and escaped with an undetermined amount of cash. But the cash was recovered during a police chase.
