Unabomber Suspect’s Shack To Be Moved

Compiled From Wire Services

Theodore Kaczynski’s mountain shack has been moved a short distance and may be flown by military helicopter to Great Falls, Mont., 75 miles away, to preserve it as evidence and protect it from scavengers.

The Unabomber suspect was arrested at the 10-by-12-foot plywood shack near here on April 3.

George Grotz, FBI spokesman in San Francisco, said Thursday that the cabin has been moved a short distance and placed on skids. He said it will be moved from the mountain pass within a few days to a site not yet selected.

“The FBI wanted to secure the building as evidence and is looking for a location, potentially in Great Falls,” Montana National Guard spokesman Dan Rapkoch said.

He said the FBI has inquired about the use of a heavy-duty helicopter to lift the shack.
