Quake Injures Scores In Northern China
A powerful earthquake shook northern China on Friday, toppling dozens of houses and killing at least eight people.
At least 100 people were injured by the 6.4-magnitude quake centered north of the Inner Mongolian city of Baotou, about 340 miles northwest of Beijing, officials said.
The earthquake hit at 11:32 a.m. local time and was felt in much of northern China, including Beijing, where high-rise buildings swayed perceptibly. Dozens of old one-story houses collapsed near the epicenter, the seismological bureau said.
