Computer Gets F

Associated Press

It was the worst nightmare of straight-A students - and a dream come true for many who struggle just to pass.

Valparaiso High School recalled its report cards before students could take them home Friday after administrators discovered a computer was giving out the wrong marks.

“Kids who normally get high grades began complaining to the office,” said superintendent Michael Benway. “The computer scanner was reading high grades as low and low grades as high.”

“There are a couple kids who are disappointed because they had legitimate grades, and some kids were surprised and they didn’t want to give their cards back,” principal Ken Brist said.
