Betty Sheahan Pinehurst, Idaho
At her request, no service will be held for Betty L. Sheahan, 69. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sheahan, who was born in Priest River, Idaho, died Sunday.
She moved to North Idaho from California in 1954, later graduating from Priest River High School. She was a homemaker and mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas and Billy Sheahan, both of Idaho, and Buddy Morgan of California; two daughters, Betty Adams of St. Maries and Mary Boorman of California; one brother, Raymond Culler of Coeur d’Alene; and several grandchildren.
James Breen Athol, Idaho
Service for James R. Breen, 60, was held Tuesday in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Private inurnment will follow at a later date. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Breen, who was born in St. Paul, Minn., died Friday.
He had lived in Bonners Ferry for many years before moving to Athol six years ago. He suffered from multiple sclerosis for more than 30 years.
Mr. Breen was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church near Bonners Ferry and loved spending time with people. He enjoyed his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Velda, of Bonners Ferry; four stepdaughters, Kathy Utter of Bonners Ferry, Debbie Haven of Woodland, Wash., Deanna Taylor of Federal Way, Wash., and Tammie White of Utah; one sister, Georgia Invie of Minnesota; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Gus Melin Hunters, Wash.
No service is planned for Gus E. Melin, 88, who died Sunday. A memorial service is planned for a later date. Danekas Funeral Chapel of Colville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime resident of Hunters, Mr. Melin died Sunday.
He graduated from Hunters High School and was a farmer, rancher and a 4-H leader for 35 years. He was a member of local fraternal and civic organizations, including the Soil Conservation Board, the Hunters Water District, Hunters Odd Fellows Lodge, Scottish Rite and El Katif Shrine. He also was a 50-year member of Greenwood Park Grange and past master of Hunters Masonic Lodge.
His wife, Kathryn, preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons, Eric Melin of Chehalis, Wash. and John Melin of Moses Lake; two daughters, Suzanne Melin of Hunters and Roberta Hutton of Aurora, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Floyd Miller Coeur d’Alene
Service for Floyd C. Miller, 78, will be held today at 1 p.m. at English Funeral Home in Post Falls. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
Mr. Miller, who was born in North Dakota, died Monday.
In 1936 he moved to Post Falls from North Dakota and recently moved to Pinewood Care Center in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Miller had operated Karl’s Carpets in Coeur d’Alene before retiring in the mid-1970s. He was a member of Falls Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in Post Falls.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lenora, in 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Winbarger and June Lange, both of Spokane; four brothers, Oscar and Lawrence, both of Post Falls, Donald of Oregon and Robert of Spirit Lake, Idaho; two sisters, Leona Williams of New Mexico and Rose Tishmuck of South Dakota; and four grandsons, Randy, Karl, Mike and Gene.
Claire Patterson Spokane
Rosary for Claire M. Patterson, 90, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe. Funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger-Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Alton Hunter Athol, Idaho
Service for Alton K. Hunter, 69, will be today at 2 p.m. at the Athol Community Center. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Athol. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hunter, who was born in North Carolina, died Thursday in a logging accident.
He moved to Athol in 1965 from Moses Lake and worked for the Athol City Maintenance Department, retiring four years ago.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Ruth; three sons, Clay Thomas of Alabama, Alan Thomas of North Carolina and Ronald Hunter of Post Falls; one daughter, Connie Douglas of Rockford; four stepchildren, William Hill of Coeur d’Alene, Dale Hill of St. Maries, Michael Hill of Boise and Vickie Stevens of California; two brothers, Fred and Joe Hunter, both of North Carolina; and three sisters, Arlene and Sarah Bryan, and Minnie Horn, all of North Carolina.
Ruby Mary Scarcello Rathdrum, Idaho
Funeral Mass for Ruby Mary Scarcello, 92, will be today at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rathdrum. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Scarcello, who was born in Buckeye, Wash., near Spokane, died Saturday.
She moved to Rathdrum and lived on the family farm. Mrs. Scarcello took an active role in supporting education, including school bond issues.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joe, in 1976, and son, Angelo, in 1980.
Survivors include four sons, Frank of Oregon, Joe and Charles, both of California, and Dennis of Spokane; five daughters, Anna Russell of Spokane, Margaret French of Tennessee, Leona Kearney of Sunnyside, Wash., Dora Christianson of Deer Park and Dorothy Donahue of Lynnwood, Wash.; one sister, Helen Cerenzia of Spokane; 28 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Stanislaus Church in Rathdrum, where she was a member.
Doris M. Barnard Cheney
Graveside service for Doris M. Barnard, 71, will be at 9:30 a.m. today at the Spring Creek Cemetery in Reardan, Wash. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cheney. Strate Funeral Home of Davenport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Barnard who was born in Spokane, died Friday in Scottsdale, Ariz.
After her marriage to Berne Barnard she lived in Reardan for 15 years and moved to Cheney in 1966. She worked as a secretary for the Cheney School District until retirement in 1986. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Women of the Church, Daikonia and the Spring Creek Grange of Reardan.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years; her father, Rudolph Nielson of Spokane; two daughters, Cheryl August of Bow, Wash., and Julie Powell of Pasco; one son, David Barnard of Arlington, Wash.; and one sister, Helen Rosenlund of Spokane.

William Cresswell Spokane
Funeral Mass is scheduled for William James Cresswell at 2 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Private burial will follow. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cresswell, 17, died Sunday while skiing at Schweitzer Mountain Resort.
He was an honor student at Lewis and Clark High School, an artist, junior counselor for Camp Reed and a senior lifesaver. His interests included snow and water skiing, swimming, hiking and biking.
He is survived by his parents, Rick and Janna Cresswell of Spokane; one brother, Scott Cresswell, and one sister, Christine Cresswell, both of Spokane; his grandmother, LaVerne Cresswell of Oakland, Calif.; and his grandfather, Bob Wolters of Belleville, Mich.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bill Cresswell/Camp Reed Memorial Fund.

Mrs. Tracino, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Sunday.
She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School, a homemaker and a member of Catholic Daughters, St. Patrick’s Altar Society and American Italian Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Grogan of Newman Lake; one brother, Robert Colistro of Spokane; two sisters, Edith Morgan of Spokane and Joanne Johnson of Seattle; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Harold LaBeau Marshall, Wash.
Visitation for Harold T. “Harry” LaBeau, 59, is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mr. LaBeau, who was born in Cheyenne Agency, S.D., died Monday.
He had lived in Marshall for 20 years and was an aircraft mechanic for the Air Force.
He had served in the Korean War.
Mr. LaBeau is survived by his wife of eight years, Doris LaBeau; three sons, Wayne LaBeau of Browns Mills, N.J., and Gary and Herb Lallier, both of Spokane; three daughters, Gwen LaBeau of Macon, Ga., Debbie Skjothaug of Spokane and Donna Miller of Chillicothe, Ohio; three brothers, Eric LaBeau of Fort Worth, Texas, John LaBeau of Katy, Texas, and Vetal LaBeau of Houston; three sisters, Emaline Moran of McLaughlin, S.D., and Wilma Rust and Inez Swonke, both of Houston; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Charles Manfred Spokane
Service for Charles Manfred, 75, is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, with private inurnment to follow. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Manfred, a longtime resident of Spokane, died Sunday.
He worked as a freight agent for Burlington Northern. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Friends and a past member of the Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Rita; two daughters, Judy Manfred of San Francisco and Nancy Echelbarger of Reardan, Wash.; two brothers, Al Manfred of Seattle and Sam Manfred of Spokane; one sister, Bernice Beagles of Spokane; and two grandchildren.
Rita Dreher Montevallo, Ala.
A memorial service for Rita B. Dreher, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Plymouth Congregational Church. Mrs. Dreher, a longtime Spokane resident, died Jan. 9, in Montevallo.
She was a member of Montevallo Presbyterian Church and was also a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Spokane. She sang in the choir as well as volunteered in the church library.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Anne Dawson of Montevallo; four granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Robert Withrow Spokane
Service for Robert E. Withrow, 68, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riplinger Funeral Home.
Mr. Withrow, a lifelong resident of Spokane, died Saturday.
He attended North Central High School, served in Korea with the Marine Corps, and worked for Continental Bakery for 30 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a former commandant of the Melvin Smith Detachment of the Marine Corps League. He was one of the original Spokane Police Department Reserve officers, serving as a senior volunteer for the department until his death.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Mary Rita.
Mr. Withrow is survived by one daughter, Lynette Fornia of Spokane; three sons, Randy Withrow and Dana Withrow of Spokane, and Craig Withrow of Valleyford, Calif.; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the U.S. Marine Corps League Toys for Tots program.
Ruth Allen Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Ruth A. Allen, 87, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mrs. Allen, who was born in South Dakota, died Sunday.
She moved to Kellogg in 1943 from Tonasket, Wash., later moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1967.
She was a homemaker and a former member of the Grandmothers Club in Kellogg. Mrs. Allen was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, James, in 1970. Survivors include five sons, Glenn Redekop of Walla Walla, Gerald Allen of Kingston, Idaho, Gordon Allen of Yakima, Dale Murphy of Spokane and Peter Smith of Post Falls; six daughters, Jean Stewart of California, Helen Schoener of Coeur d’Alene, Lois of Rathdrum, Idaho, Marian McQuie and Joan Butler, both of Arizona, and Neoma Allen of Colfax, Wash.; 32 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
