Health Group Appeals For Meningitis Aid
The World Health Organization is appealing for aid to try to stem a growing meningitis epidemic among children in western Africa.
Nigeria has been the worst-hit with 3,634 deaths in recent months. In Burkina Faso, 859 have died.
The U.N. agency says $600,000 is desperately needed to provide vaccines and antibiotics because of the thousands of people infected, 80 percent are under age 14.
