Man Can Waive Right To Appeal Execution

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man who “did not want to spend his remaining years in an 8-by-10 cell” was allowed to waive his right to appeal his death sentence for killing three people.

Benton County Superior Court Judge Carolyn Brown said Jeremy Sagastegui could continue to represent himself in hearings to prevent higher courts from overturning or delaying his execution date.

Sagastegui, 25, last month pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated first-degree murder and urged a jury to sentence him to death.
