Jason Giambi and Terry Steinbach homered and drove in three runs apiece, and Phil Plantier had a solo shot as Oakland finished a 7-7 road trip with its fourth straight victory. Detroit lost for the fourth straight time.

Wasdin (4-1) had a one-hitter, retiring 21 of 22 batters, and held an 8-0 lead before giving up three hits - including Tony Clark’s three-run homer - in the seventh.

Milwaukee

Sal Fasano’s homer off Jose Mercedes broke a 4-4 tie in the 10th inning and Kevin Lockhart added a two-run triple as Kansas City beat Milwaukee.

Lockhart’s triple came after shortstop Jose Valentin muffed a potential inning-ending double play.

Angels 14, ChiSox 2

Anaheim, Calif.

Rex Hudler broke a 1-for-19 drought with three hits, and drove in three runs as surging California completed a three-game series sweep.

J.T. Snow capped a seven-run seventh inning with a three-run triple, Tim Salmon added a three-run homer and Gary DiSarcina scored three times to help the Angels win for the 10th time in 11 games.

Rangers 3, Orioles 2

Baltimore

Bobby Witt came within an out of a shutout, and Warren Newson homered as Texas continued its mastery of Baltimore in the first game of a doubleheader.

The second game was postponed by rain after a 2-hour delay in the second inning. It was rescheduled for today.

In the opener, Witt was poised to earn his seventh career shutout before Bobby Bonilla homered with two outs in the ninth inning.

Darryl Hamilton had three hits for the Rangers, who improved to 8-1 against the Orioles this season.

Indians 11, Red Sox 4

Cleveland

Eddie Murray hit his 487th career home run and Orel Hershiser had a shutout bid ruined by rain as Cleveland beat Boston.

Julio Franco also homered for the Indians, who tied a team record set in 1963 by homering in 16 consecutive games.

Hershiser (7-4) won his third straight start and solved his biggest problem by striking out the side with runners on second and third following a 52-minute rain delay in the second inning. He did not return, however, following a 43-minute rain stoppage after the sixth.
