Capriati Bows Out
First came the opening-round loss in the French Open. Now, Jennifer Capriati has hit another setback in her bid to reclaim her place among the top players in tennis.
Capriati, three years away from the tour and ranked 104th in the world, withdrew from Wimbledon, citing lack of preparation for the grass-court tournament.
Her first-round opponent was to have been Lori McNeil, who reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 1994. Capriati, 20, is the second top female player to withdraw. Gabriela Sabatini withdrew earlier this month because of a pulled stomach muscle.
