Steven Spielberg, Tim Allen Interested In ‘Cat In The Hat’
After weeks of negotiations, DreamWorks SKG has obtained the film rights to the classic 1957 children’s book “The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss.
Steven Spielberg is expected to produce the live-action film. Oscar-winning scribe Eric Roth (“Forrest Gump”) is attached to write the script.
It is also believed that Tim Allen, the “Home Improvement” star who hit the box office big time with Disney’s “The Santa Clause,” is interested in the project and may possibly star.
The book, known to almost every child in America, is a zany, comic tour de force that mixes rhyme and nonsense in a tale about a cat who encourages two children to make mischief while their mother is away. Seuss won a Pulitzer Prize for his work in 1984.
His books have sold 200 million copies around the world and have been translated into 20 languages.
