Local Seniors Receive Scholarships From Idfy

Idaho Drug Free Youth Inc. recently awarded five $200 scholarships to local seniors based on a written essay regarding their IDFY experience and their level of program participation. Recipients were: Billy Page and Meghan Douglas, both of Post Falls High School; Leslie Hammond, of St. Maries High School; Joni Miller of Coeur d’Alene High School; and Mark Davis of Lakeland High School.

The CPM Development Corp. in Spokane recently awarded three $1,500 scholarships to children of employees of its subsidiary companies based in Coeur d’Alene. Recipients were: Jennifer Bond, whose father works at Interstate Concrete and Asphalt Co.; Katie Bryntesen, whose father works at Central Pre-Mix Concrete Co.; and Cheryl Callen, whose father works at Central Pre-Mix Concrete Co.

Robert M. Shackelford, recently received his Doctor of Philosophy in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Alabama.

Shackelford, son of Robert and Helen Shackelford of Coeur d’Alene, is a Coeur d’Alene High School graduate. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho and a master’s degree from Texas A and M.

Jamie Barlow, a graduating senior at Lake City High School, was recently honored by the Coeur d’Alene Rotary Club for her outstanding academic achievement, membership in the National Honor Society, participation in choir, volleyball and basketball, and her creative work as an artist.

Barlow works as a caddy at the Coeur d’Alene Golf Course and plans to attend school in Oregon and major in premed science.
