Billie Etter Wins Tourney At Hangman
It was business as usual for Spokane Valley ladies club golfers last week.
Billie Etter won the Hangman Valley Golf Course 18-Hole Club handicap tournament with a threeround total of 224 in flight one.
First flight winner was Freda Beckman with 224. Fran Nord was second and Janet Lange third.
In second flight, Alice Hamilton shot 226, Dorothy Womach 232 and Sue Henley 242. Marge Harden won third flight with 246, Joyce Mohler was second and Betty Dalzell third.
President’s Cup at Valley View
First round of President’s Cup competition was played at Valley View Golf Course.
Early leaders are Judy Clipperton with A flight low gross 43, Sue Matsui with 50 in B flight, Emma Long with 61 in C flight and no-handicapper Cathy Mileson at 55.
Net leaders are Tina Marie Reger with 30, Pat Thompson with 28 and in C flight, Melba Farrar and Laura Odette tied at 36.
Bingo, bango, bongo
Liberty Lake Ladies 18-Hole members played a bingo, bango, bongo game last week with Louise Newtson winning A flight with 18 pops, Marie Nelson winning B flight with 19, Cec Schucker winning C flight with 17-1/2 and Barb Midkiff winning D flight with 19.
Newtson had low gross 95 and Alice Schattuck netted 78.
Carol Alboucq in B flight shot 93 gross and Nelson netted 78.
C flight leaders were Jeanie Wolff at 109 gross and Marilyn McCanna with 80 net. In D, Cathy Whitley shot 113 and Midkiff netted 77.
May eclectic honors for overall best scores for the month went to Etter with low gross 80 and Alboucq with net 66 in A flight.
In B, Marion Jordan shot 87 and Beckman netted 63. In C, Betty Blackburn shot 94 and Marge Doyle had net 69. Whitley shot 97 in D and Jane MacKelvie netted 63.
Medal play at Painted Hills
The competition remains stern during Painted Hills Ladies Club medal play.
Last week Caroline Geiger shot 41 for low gross of the field in A flight.
Others were Christy Cossette at 49 in B flight, Joyce Jacobs with 50 in C flight, Irene Strong with 63 in D flight and Kathy Perry in no-handicap with 57.
Net leaders in the respective flights were Cheryl McCarthy with 34, Jane Dashiell with 33, Colleen McGraw with 32 and Sharon Enterline with 31.
Three women, Lori Gray, Idelle Choate and Trish Behrens all had chip-ins on various holes.
