49ers’ All-Pro wide receiver Jerry Rice was back in the team’s minicamp after keeping a bedside vigil with his wife. Jackie Rice nearly died after the birth of a daughter, Jada, two weeks ago.
Teammate Steve Young said Jada, the couple’s third child, was born healthy and is doing fine at home. The mother continues to recuperate in a hospital.

Darryl Henley, the former Rams football player and convicted cocaine trafficker, allegedly faked a suicide attempt at the San Bernardino (Calif.) County jail, according to the U.S. marshal’s office.
The alleged suicide attempt happened May 25. Henley was moved to the San Bernardino jail from a Los Angeles detention center May 23 after federal authorities made public charges that a jail guard provided Henley with a cellular phone, which Henley then used to try to arrange a $1 million heroin deal.
