Canucks Hire New Coach

Tom Renney, a former Canadian national team coach, was hired to coach the Vancouver Canucks.

General manager Pat Quinn had been handling the coaching duties since Rick Ley was fired near the end of the NHL regular season.

He coached the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League to a Memorial Cup win in 1992.

The day before the Florida Panthers began playing for the Stanley Cup, owner H. Wayne Huizenga announced he will sell stock in the team to the public.
