Outlaw Bikers Arrested On Federal Charges
Two fugitive members of a notorious Midwestern outlaw motorcycle gang are in custody after separate arrests in eastern and western Washington.
Jeffrey “No Mind” Gruber, 38, and Robert “Bronc” McAlister, 42, are wanted in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on federal racketeering charges.
The pair have been sought since November 1994.
Both have ties to the Sons of Silence, which has chapters in at least eight states, authorities say.
Federal law enforcement authorities say members of the biker gang have records of violence and drug trafficking, and ties with the Hells Angels.
An FBI team from Seattle and Ephrata police arrested McAlister about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at 117 G Street in Ephrata, where the fugitive had been staying.
FBI agents went to Ephrata after developing a lead while arresting Gruber earlier Tuesday at an undisclosed location in Tacoma, officials said.
Gruber and McAlister are among 14 members or former members of the Sons of Silence who were indicted in Cedar Rapids in November 1994.
They are charged in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Iowa with racketeering, multiple counts of money laundering, conspiracy and committing violence in aid of racketeering.
Of the 14 indicted, seven have pleaded guilty and four others were convicted after a six-week jury trial.
