Compiled From Wire Services

Dallas Mavericks guard Tony Dumas was charged with filing a false car theft report after leaving the scene of a weekend accident in Dallas. Dumas, 23, was arrested early Sunday and posted a $500 bond.

Police say Dumas fled the scene of the accident 3 hours before he filed a false report that his car was stolen at gunpoint. No one was injured in the accident, which Dumas described as a “fender-bender.”

Philadelphia guard Vernon Maxwell received a “very substantial fine” from the team for leaving the Spectrum after being benched in the third quarter during the Chicago Bulls’ blowout of the Sixers on Saturday night.

Lon Rosen, Magic Johnson’s agent, denied a Prime Sports TV report aired Monday night that suggested Johnson would rejoin the Lakers as a player.
