Cbs: Dc-9 Failed To Lower Landing Gear
A Continental Airlines DC-9 that slid off a runway did not lower its landing gear before touching down, CBS News reported Tuesday.
The jet, with 82 passengers and five crew members aboard, slid more than 7,000 feet down a runway on its belly Monday, coming to rest in a grassy area just off a landing strip at Houston’s Intercontinental Airport. There were no serious injuries.
Passengers and airline officials said Monday the plane’s landing gear apparently collapsed when it hit the runway. But CBS, citing unidentified sources, said Tuesday the landing gear was still stowed within the DC-9 when it hit the ground.
