Spotted Horse Nets 60 For Ev

Frontier League basketball

James Spotted Horse set a school record - and perhaps a Frontier League record - Friday by scoring an eye-popping 60 points to lead the East Valley boys to a 94-71 win over visiting Clarkston.

Spotted Horse hit 28 of 36 field goals, including three 3-pointers. He scored 39 second-half points, hitting 12 of his first 14 shots after intermission.

“You talk about being in a zone; he was in it,” said EV coach Richard King. “When you look at how many points he scored, you would think the guy was shooting every time he touched the ball. I’m here to tell you that this was a team effort. Nine guys got him the ball.”

The league program doesn’t list scoring records.

Spotted Horse also had 13 rebounds. His efforts ended the playoff hopes of the Bantams (8-9, 5-6). EV finished the year 6-14, 3-9 after going 0-20 last year.
