Firm Submits Plan For Cascades Pipeline

Associated Press

A formal application to build a fuel pipeline across the Cascades was submitted Monday by a Renton company.

Olympic Pipeline Company wants to construct a 227-mile pipeline from Woodinville to Pasco to carry gasoline, jet and diesel fuel.

The company is owned by Texaco, ARCO and GATX.

The proposal, which has been expected for a year, was filed with the Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council.

Olympic officials say the underground pipe would transport fuel cheaper and more safely than barges and trucks.

It would hook up with Olympic’s existing line, which runs from Bellingham to Portland.
