Cold Snap Tough On Charity’s Budget

From Staff And Wire Reports

The record cold temperatures of the past week have drained the only available fund for emergency energy help.

Project Share is running out of cash to help the needy with broken furnaces and heating bills.

The project, run by the Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs, collects money from utility bill payers willing to make tax deductible donations. Most of the region’s utilities participate in the project.

Washington Water Power Co. said Friday it made its annual $20,000 contribution to the cause.
