General: No Plans To Cut Women From Army

Associated Press

Despite reports of rape and sexual harassment that have emerged in recent months at military bases, no consideration is being given to reducing the presence of women in the Army, the service’s top general said.

Gen. Dennis Reimer, the Army’s chief of staff, was asked whether he’d asked anyone to look into either reducing the number of women in the service or barring them entirely from the force.

“I don’t think that would be in the best interest in the Army,” Reimer replied. “There’s been no attempt to look at the elimination of women.”
