Council To Discuss Race Equality
Spokane Mayor Jack Geraghty plans to discuss the community’s commitment to racial equality during tonight’s City Council meeting.
“We need a heightened awareness of the need to eliminate racism,” Geraghty said. “We want every group, every organization to develop their own plan of action.”
Geraghty’s speech to the council comes a day before a program celebrating the 48th anniversary of Human Rights Day. The event takes place Tuesday at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.
Monday’s regular council agenda has only one other item - a resolution accepting a sewer improvement district.
A briefing for the council starts at 3:30 p.m. in the lower-level conference room of City Hall. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. , DataTimes
