Cunningham Retires To Broadcast Booth

From Wire Reports

Randall Cunningham, released by the Philadelphia Eagles after 11 seasons and not picked up by any team, said Thursday he will retire from pro football.

The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback, whose dazzling runs and inspired playmaking had faded since a series of injuries, planned a news conference today in Philadelphia.

He recently signed on as a studio analyst with TNT.

How suite it is for Pack fans

Move over brats and beer. Here comes smoked salmon and cornish hens.

In luxury boxes and suites, the menu for Green Bay Packers fans at Lambeau Field now includes some epicurean gourmet delights - thanks to a new catering idea called the “great chefs program.”

Such menu items are being offered for the first time this season to the 3,200 fans watching games in Lambeau’s 198 luxury boxes.

Favre rested and ready

Brett Favre is brushing off suggestions his 46-day off-season break to treat his painkiller abuse may hurt his game.

“I feel very confident about where I am, about where this team is,” the Green Bay Packers quarterback said. The down time at Menninger Clinic in Kansas for treatment of Vicodin abuse may have even helped him physically, he says.

“My arm strength feels better than last year,” he said. “I told Mike (coach Holmgren) maybe this is the way to come in. Usually we throw two months before.”

Jets sign Parrish for offensive line

With high-priced free-agent tackles Jumbo Elliott and David Williams hurting, the New York Jets signed James Parrish for their offensive line.

Parrish, 28, played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, but was cut this summer. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Parrish started one game in 1995.
