Longshot Wins At Arlington

Longshot Mecke outfinished defending champion Awad to win the Arlington Million by two lengths at Arlington International Raceway near Chicago.

Sharp Cat, an 11-1 longshot, outraced Desert Digger in the stretch then survived a stewards’ inquiry to win the $250,000 Del Mar Debutante for 2-year-old fillies by almost a length at Del Mar in southern California.

Ridden by Rene Douglas, Sharp Cat covered seven furlongs in 1:23-4/5 and paid $25.60, $10.20 and $5.20.
