Veradale Teen Hurt In Crash

A 17-year-old driver was in critical condition late Friday after he made a turn in front of an oncoming pickup on state Highway 27, authorities said.

Sean P. Harkness of Veradale was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center after the accident at 7:10 a.m., the Washington State Patrol said. A nursing supervisor listed his condition as critical late Friday.

The other driver, 21-year-old Roger P. Cool of Plummer, Idaho, was treated at the scene for minor injuries, the state patrol said.

Cool was heading north on Highway 27 at Jackson Road when Harkness made a left turn in front of Cool’s 1983 Chevrolet pickup, according to the state patrol. Cool’s pickup then struck Harkness’s Mercury Cougar.

Cool wore a seat belt, the state patrol said. It was unknown whether Harkness wore his seat belt. , DataTimes
