Ewu’s First Scrimmage Won’t Include Jackson

Eastern Washington University will hold its first preseason football scrimmage today at 3 p.m. at Woodward Stadium in Cheney, but receiver Jerrold Jackson will not take part.

Jackson, a senior from Seattle, broke his left hand during a Thursday practice and will probably miss the Eagles’ first two games, according to Coach Mike Kramer.

Jackson, who suffered two concussions that limited his playing time to seven games last fall, was expected to be Eastern’s big-play threat this season.

“We need the sun to come out and clear out the dark cloud that has been hanging over Jerrold’s head,” Kramer said. “But other than Jerrold, we’ve stayed relatively injury free so far.”

Today’s scrimmage is open to the public free of charge.
