The One Essential To Bring: A Good Appetite Food And Drink Will Be In Abundance At The Fair
Cotton candy, hot dogs, elephant ears, snow cones - all the old standbys are back at the fair this year, with one addition.
“We’ll have an espresso booth. We finally caved to public demand,” laughed fair manager Barb Renner.
The coffee should keep crowds wide awake. To keep cool, try Hawaiian Snow’s flavored ice in rainbow colors. Or swig a chilled beer in the North Idaho College Booster Club’s beer garden.
A variety of service clubs are grilling up traditional burgers. If you’re feeling adventuresome, try a buffalo burger by White’s Concessions, or a Sheep Producers’ lamb burger.
Dawg-lovers can choose from German sausages, New York-style Italian sausages, Coney dogs, and hot dogs. Every bite will support a good cause. Concessionaires include Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, and the 4-H Leaders’ Council.
Road Ranger Bar-B-Que and Southern Style Ribs will smoke up some savory barbecued items, which you can supplement with beer kabobs and baked beans by Ekness Catering.
For more ethnic fare, a variety of booths will offer everything from giant chicken fajitas to teriyaki chicken breasts.
Once you get to dessert, the fair is sugar heaven. Choose from cinnamon rolls, floats and sundaes scooped by Calvary Lutheran Church, elephant ears fried by the Over the Hill Gang, caramel apples by Spokandy, and Lil’ Orbit mini donuts.
And whatever you do, don’t forget the cotton candy.
